— As has been noted on the website, when WWE first made the call to book Undertaker vs. CM Punk, the plan was for Undertaker to win the World Championship. There has since been a movement in favor of keeping the belt on Punk, especially since the two are slated to wrestle again at next month’s WWE Hell in a Cell, but all indications are that if the Punk retention does happen, it will not be a clean/uncontested one.
— Though plans from earlier in the summer envisioned Randy Orton as champion come the holidays, there has definitely been talk that John Cena will get the victory on Sunday’s event. Orton has continuously been booked to get heat on Cena–he has recent pinfall victories and successful ambush attempts–so WWE has at least been building fan expectation for a Cena victory. A lot will also depend on how WWE chooses to book Taker vs. Punk. It would be much harder for WWE to credibly pull off an Orton screwjob victory if the plan is also for CM Punk to win via some sort of disputed finish, especially since the I-Quit/Submission rules make all disputed finishes inherently questionable.
— WWE remains very high on Chris Jericho and Big Show as tag champs, as holding the belts allows for Jericho, universally viewed as one of the MVPs in WWE right now, to work RAW and SmackDown. It thus does not seem likely they will lose to MVP and Mark Henry.
— Expect DX vs. Legacy to be a fairly long match that takes full advantage of the “submissions count anywhere” stipulation.
