“American Idol” Winner Signs Record Deal

It’s never a surprise when the winner of “American Idol” scores a major label record deal, but 19 Entertainment announced the deal Monday to generate excitement for Kris Allen’s upcoming album.

Allen, who defeated Adam Lambert by what many believe was a significant margin to win the “American Idol” crown, has reached a label deal with 19 Recordings and Jive Records. He will release his album in the fall of 2009.

“As exciting as the last few months have been, I’m really looking forward to what is next,” says Allen. “I’m very grateful to be working with Simon Fuller and his team at 19 Entertainment, along with Barry Weiss and Jive Records on my debut album. Everyone’s been asking me what it’s going to sound like. It will be very similar to what you heard from me on the show — definitely in the pop/rock genre. I can’t wait to get started!”

Allen, along with the nine other “American Idol” top ten finalists, will appear on the 50-city “Idol” tour for the duration of the summer.
