According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there was no effort made by WWE to re-sign Bobby Lashley, even given the belief that SmackDown! could use more main-event face talent.
The story says that WWE had no interest in using the wrestler as a part time attraction, especially since his other job–mixed martial arts–risks exposing him due to its unscripted, athletic nature.
