Update: Final ratings data posted by Showbuzz confirms that Wednesday’s third season “Empire” premiere actually topped the second season finale in adults 18-49.

It drew a 4.2 adults 18-49 rating and 10.87 million total viewers. The second season conclusion posted a 4.1 with 10.88 million.

While up from the season finale, “Empire” was way down from the second season premiere. That episode drew a 6.7 rating and 16.18 million total audience members.

FOX led into “Empire” With the premiere of “Lethal Weapon.” The movie adaptation drew a solid 2.2 rating and 7.93 million total viewers.

While predictably down from the second season premiere, Wednesday’s “Empire” was on par with the season two finale.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s episode drew a 4.1 adults 18-49 rating and 10.80 million total viewers.

The figures, which may receive an upward adjustment in the final ratings report, are similar to the 4.1 rating and 10.88 million viewer mark garnered by last season’s finale.

Last season’s premiere, however, drew a 6.7 rating and 16.18 million total viewers.

“Empire” will very likely fall in the coming weeks, but it is clearly still a top television attraction. It was Wednesday night’s #1 show in both adults 18-49 and total viewership.
