Major Star Critiques WWE’s Training, Draft Update

— Unlike last year, WWE reportedly gave some of the major names advanced notice about their role in the recent WWE Draft special. Almost everyone familiar with the situation for the past draft said that Triple H was the only one who had preemptive notice about draft plans, as WWE feels any excess dissemination of draft information increases the likelihood of the news leaking to reporters.

— An anonymous, “major” WWE star reportedly told the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the company’s developmental program is worthy of criticism. According to the source, no one in developmental presently stands out, a fact which is being blamed on the territory’s training. Instead of more significantly using veteran performers like Ricky Steamboat, Arn Anderson and Dean Malenko, developmental has called upon Shelton Benjamin to lead the training. While Benjamin is considered a very gifted part of WWE’s roster, his strength is athleticism–rather than traditional, in-ring storytelling–a trait which usually cannot be taught.
