FOX Picks Up Several New Shows

Though upfronts do not officially begin until next week, FOX is leaving little mystery about its pickups for next season.

The network most recently confirmed that comedy pilot “Brothers” has been granted a thirteen episode order for next season. The comedy stars Michael Strahan and Darryl “Chill” Mitchell in a comedy about a retired athlete and his wheelchair-bound brother, respectively. THR says that pilot received very strong feedback in its preview screening last week.

FOX had previously ordered dramas “Human Target” and “Past Life,” along with comedies “Cleveland” (the “Family Guy” spin-off) and “Sons of Tuscon” to series. “Glee,” which premieres after Tuesday’s “American Idol,” will also be on FOX’s lineup this coming fall.

Much of FOX’s roster is thus set in stone–“Lie to Me” and “Fringe” both received second season renewals, effectively making “Dollhouse” and “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” the network’s only bubble series.

Drama pilot “Maggie Hill” remains a contender for the midseason slate, says THR.
