With Ellie Goulding’s “Something In The Way You Move” fading at pop radio, Interscope will soon turn its attention to a third single from her “Delirium” album.
“Army” may be that third single.
The song was recently added to Interscope’s promotional Top 40 playlist.
Goulding — and radio industry — fans certainly know of the backstory involving the song. “Army” was originally slated as the follow-up to the artist’s “On My Mind,” but Interscope later provided indication that it was going to instead push “Move.”
Shortly after that indication emerged, “Army” began to receive pop radio airplay. It actually earned a Top 60 airplay ranking in conjunction with the December 27-January 2 tracking week.
That bump was short-lived, however, as radio programmers quickly switched over to “Something In The Way You Move.” The song, which ultimately served as the second single from Goulding’s “Delirium,” reached a pop radio peak of #14 before embarking on its recent decline.
The tale certainly illustrates Interscope’s willingness to change plans. As of right now, however, the plan seems to call for “Army” as the new single.
