Ellie Goulding’s “Army” Grabs #57 at Pop Radio

While Interscope’s promotional Top 40 playlist suggests “Something In The Way You Move” will be the next Ellie Goulding single, her “Army” is the one gaining traction at pop radio.

Spun 218 times during the December 27-January 2 tracking week, “Army” ranks as the Mediabase pop panel’s #57 song. It was not even in last week’s Top 100.

Forty two Mediabase-monitored stations spun “Army” during the official tracking week.

Originally featured on the Interscope promo playlist and performed during the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, “Army” had long been the presumed follow-up to Goulding’s Top 5 hit “On My Mind.” Last month, however, Interscope removed “Army” and added “Move” to its promotional playlist, leading to speculation that it was going in a different direction with the single.

The sudden burst of airplay for “Army” provides another twist in the story.

The label has yet to formally announce an impact date for either song.
