Update: Currently leading the race for #1 on the next Mediabase pop airplay chart (based on the October 11-17 tracking week), Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” is already #1 on Billboard’s corresponding Pop Songs chart.
Up two places from last week’s position, it becomes Bieber’s first song to reach the apex of the Pop Songs listing.

With the first day of the October 11-17 tracking week in the books, Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” leads the race for #1 on the next pop radio airplay chart.
“What Do You Mean?” received 2,418 spins on Sunday, October 11. Up 19.8% from the song’s October 4 total, the mark positions “WDYM” at #1 on Mediabase’s building airplay chart.
The Weeknd’s “The Hills,” which led “What Do You Mean?” through this past week’s official chart (#2 vs. #3), received slightly less airplay on Sunday. It began the tracking week with 2,357 pop plays on October 11 (+6.6%); the count positions “The Hills” at #2 on the building listing.
R. City’s “Locked Away (featuring Adam Levine),” which spent the past two weeks at #1 on Mediabase’s official chart, was Sunday’s third-most-played song. It received 2,295 daily spins (+2.0%).
Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” (2,189, +15.3%) and Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” (1,875, +14.6%) claim the #4 and #5 positions on the building chart, respectively.
With six days remaining in the tracking week, it is far too early to declare Bieber’s tune a lock for #1. Its first day lead over “The Hills” (and all other songs) does, however, speak favorably to its momentum.
