— The word from within TNA is that the marketing budget allocated for TNA’s upcoming Monday, January 4 special is on the small side. While even the most intense of marketing campaigns would likely not be enough to give TNA iMPACT! the ratings victory when it goes head-to-head with RAW, the feeling is that a more aggressive mainstream publicity effort would have at least gotten TNA on the radar and drawn beneficial, major league exposure ahead of Hulk Hogan’s debut.
There is still some hope that Hulk Hogan will use his media credibility to get on some major news and talk shows prior to January 4.
— With the expected Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon match set for WrestleMania–three months after his return next week–there is some talk about how WWE will build to the match. That amount of build time is rare for WWE, and the feeling is that WWE will want to pull out some intermediate stops prior to ‘Mania.
With such a long delay between return and match, it also appears inevitable that Hart will interact with DX, despite the presumed political hesitance from both parties. One idea going around would call for Hart to serve as a guest referee or enforcer for a match between DX and The Hart Dynasty; a Vince McMahon interference would set the stage for Hart vs. McMahon at WrestleMania 26.
That is not confirmed, however, as WWE has yet to iron out its complete game plan.
