The CW formally announces its schedule Thursday, but the pieces of its murky 2009-10 show roster are finally falling into place.
The network officially picked up “Melrose Place,” “Vampire Diaries” and “The Beautiful Life” for the fall lineup, confirming prior reports about staffing orders for the drama pilots. The three new series beat out the “Gossip Girl” spin-off, a one-time frontrunner, for spots on the schedule; with its buzz completely cooled, that spin-off is now considered out of the running for any sort of pickup.
New dramedy series “Light Years” reportedly still has a shot at a midseason order; midseason scheduling likely will not be revealed until CW’s formal upfront presentation.
Variety also confirmed that dramedies “Privileged” and “Reaper” and comedies “The Game” and “Everybody Hates Chris” are officially done, at least on The CW. None are surprises, although speculation about “Privileged” getting a shot at a second season had been brewing in recent weeks.
