Sam Smith’s “To Die For” attracted significant opening day interest at the pop radio format.

According to Mediabase, the new single had received 993 spins by the close of Friday, February 14. The count slots “To Die For” at #39 on the Mediabase building/real-time chart, which ranks songs based on the first six days of the February 9-15 tracking period.

The song will doubtfully receive as much airplay Saturday, but it still has a great chance of retaining its Top 40 position as the chart goes final.

“To Die For,” which also received airplay at hot adult contemporary radio, is the title track from Smith’s forthcoming album.
