After noticing some potential “clues” within Taylor Swift’s Instagram posts earlier this year, fans developed anticipation for that new music. Swift heightened the anticipation by appearing on two Elle Magazine covers and making an in-person appearance at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
Taylor Swift may have just revealed when that new music will arrive.
As of Saturday, the homepage for Swift’s official website (taylorswift.com) features a countdown to 12AM ET on April 26 (late Thursday/early Friday). Sporting a new design, Swift’s social media profiles also directly reference the April 26 date.
The April 26 date interestingly connects to Swift’s Elle Magazine essay; she identified the importance of “countdowns” as her “26th lesson” in the piece about wisdom she gained before turning thirty.
Neither the website nor any social media profile directly confirms April 26 as a release date for new music, but that seems to be the prevailing assumption. The scope of the campaign suggests Swift is planning something big. The timing (April 26 is a Friday, the start of the music chart tracking week) specifically suggests new music is involved.
Swift, moreover, has apparently been liking Tumblr posts that reference the impending release of new music.
Swift’s next music chapter will be the follow-up to 2017’s “reputation.” Said album era began with the release of lead single “Look What You Made Me Do” late on the night of August 24, 2017. The album itself debuted on November 10, 2017.
