Update: Billboard confirms the report of Ariana Grandes’ “7 rings” retaining its #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song is spending a fourth week atop the chart, which ranks songs from all genres based on sales, streams and radio airplay.

A strong performer in all three categories, “7 rings” actually spends a fourth week atop the Streaming Songs chart.

Grande’s single “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored” debuts at #2 on the Hot 100, while former #1 “thank u, next” jumps up to #3. Grande becomes the first artist to simultaneously hold the Top 3 spots since The Beatles in 1964.

Due to the Presidents’ Day holiday, Billboard will not be formally announcing the Top 10 of this week’s Billboard Hot 100 until Tuesday.

We nonetheless already have indication on which song will claim #1.

In a press release about Ariana Grande’s new album, Republic Records notes that her single “‘7 rings’ enjoys its fourth consecutive week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.”

As this will only be the song’s fourth week on the chart, the statement essentially confirms “7 rings” will retain the throne it has held since its debut.

The news is not surprising. While preliminary data suggests that Grande’s new “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored” had a streaming edge during the February 8-14 tracking period, “7 rings” looks to have sold more copies. It definitely possessed a huge advantage on the radio front.

Collectively, those factors should provide “7 rings” with a comfortable overall lead.

Still, the news should be treated as tentative until formally confirmed by Billboard.
