In a recent interview with Variety, Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) revealed that “Game Of Thrones” would be returning in 2019 — not 2018 as many fans had hoped.

Thursday, HBO officially confirmed the 2019 return.

“GAME OF THRONES will return for its six-episode, eighth and final season in 2019,” wrote HBO in a note to media outlets.

Along with the 2019 announcement, HBO confirmed David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik as directors for season eight.

David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill are writers for the final season.
