Lorde’s “Royals” Earns Diamond Certification In US; “Green Light” Goes Platinum

Lorde’s global breakthrough “Royals” just earned a very prestigious honor in the United States.

The smash hit has officially been certified diamond.

Issued on December 8 by the RIAA, the award confirms 10 million in US units. Each unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.

“Royals” spent multiple weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. It also won a Grammy for Song of the Year.

— “Royals” was not the only Lorde single to pick up a new certification this week. The singer-songwriter also earned a platinum honor for “Green Light,” which is the lead single from her Grammy-nominated “Melodrama.”

The award confirms 1 million in US units.
