1st Look: ABC’s “Boy Band” Debuts June 22; 30 Contestants Compete, Rita Ora Hosts

ABC’s effort to establish the next boy band begins airing on June 22.

Fittingly entitled “Boy Band,” the show finds young male artists competing for the chance to be part of a five-person boy band. The group will perform its first single on the season finale.

Rita Ora hosts the show, while Nick Carter (of the iconic boy band Backstreet Boys), Emma Bunton (of the iconic girl group Spice Girls) and Timbaland will appear as “architects.”

Airing at 8PM EDT/PDT, the June 22 premiere will introduce America to thirty contestants. Eighteen will advance to the next round, in which they will be bracketed into three groups of six. From there, additional eliminations will begin.
