New series “MacGyver” was particularly dominant. In addition to winning its timeslot, it ranked as the night’s top show, period.
According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, the “MacGyver” series premiere drew a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating and 10.89 million total viewers.
Solid on any night, the numbers are particularly strong for a Friday night. “MacGyver” was the night’s highest-rated and most watched program on network television.
Its closest competition in adults 18-49 came from CBS’ own “Hawaii Five-O” and “Blue Bloods,” which each drew a 1.3 rating. Its closest competition in total viewership was “Blue Bloods,” which drew 10.43 million audience members. “Hawaii Five-O” was also close with 10.09 million.
Within the 8PM timeslot, the top opposition came from FOX’s “Hell’s Kitchen” in adults 18-49 (1.1) and from ABC’s “Last Man Standing”/”Dr. Ken” block in viewership (average of 4.97 million).
