It reached the Top 10 at pop radio. It reached the Top 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. It holds a platinum certification from the RIAA.
Wednesday, Daya’s breakthrough single “Hide Away” added to its list of achievements. It officially crossed 200 million streams on Spotify.
The infectious hit single’s global Spotify streaming count now stands at 200,018,113.
Since it launched last year, “Hide Away” has been a testament to the power of music that connects. The song had no built-in advantages; Daya was a virtual unknown when she released “Hide Away” on the new and independent Artbeatz label.
“Hide Away” nonetheless proved instantly resonant with audiences. It posted strong Shazam numbers in early airplay markets, and its sales-to-airplay ratio was impressive for nearly any artist, let alone one without a household name. The audience reaction was impossible to ignore, and radio soon began to embrace “Hide Away” as a hit.
Daya would subsequently appear on The Chainsmokers’ double-platinum smash “Don’t Let Me Down.” Her own follow-up single “Sit Still, Look Pretty” is also performing well; it has a gold certification in the United States and a global Spotify sum of nearly 75 million.
