MTV had been decidedly — and surprisingly — mum about the bill for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony, which is just over two weeks away.
That changed Thursday afternoon, when MTV finally provided news on the lineup.
Rihanna will receive the Michael Jackson “Video Vanguard” award at the upcoming ceremony. MTV and Rihanna simultaneously shared the news on social media.
Recent Vanguard Award winners have included Kanye West, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and Britney Spears.
Emanating from Madison Square Garden, the 2016 VMAs ceremony takes place on August 28.
