Update: Final national data posted by Showbuzz confirms this week’s “Empire” was up week-to-week in adults 18-49 and total viewership.

Wednesday’s episode drew a 3.7 adults 18-49 rating and 9.81 million total viewers, besting the 3.6 and 9.39 million drawn last week.

It was Wednesday’s #1 show in both columns. Last week’s episode led Wednesday in adults 18-49 but trailed “Survivor” in total viewership.

Based on preliminary data, the penultimate second season installment of FOX’s “Empire” held steady in adults 18-49 and enjoyed a week-to-week gain in total viewership.

Fast national data posted by Showbuzz reveals that Wednesday’s “Empire” drew a 3.6 adults 18-49 rating and 9.71 million total live+same-day viewers. Last week’s episode drew the same 3.6 but 9.39 million total viewers.

In a rare occurrence, last week’s episode actually ranked as Wednesday’s second-most watched show. It narrowly trailed CBS’ “Survivor” in live+same-day viewership.

This week, “Empire” returns to #1 for viewership. It also continued its streak of dominance in adults 18-49.

The “Empire” season finale airs next week.
