On the heels of confirmation that it will be issued as the seventh radio single from “1989,” Taylor Swift’s “New Romantics” has returned to the Top 100 on the US iTunes single sales chart.
As of press time (1:05PM ET), the deluxe edition track is #92 on the chart. It was outside of the Top 200 prior to the news.
Amid the realization that sixth single “Out Of The Woods” is done climbing at pop radio — the song, which has officially peaked at #13, is now outside of the Top 15 on Mediabase’s building chart — word emerged that “New Romantics” would be released as an immediate follow-up.
Cleveland-area DJ Java Joel Murphy first broke the news. Headline Planet followed up with confirmation (and news of a February 23 impact date), while Swift formalized the story with a Friday night Tweet.
“New Romantics” first appeared on the Target deluxe edition of Swift’s Grammy-winning album. It was later released to iTunes; it debuted at #71 on the Hot 100 in conjunction with its first week of digital sales.
