While pre-season rumors pegged Bruno Mars as the likely Super Bowl 50 halftime show performer, the NFL has yet to formally confirm any act for this year’s high-profile showcase.
As the world awaits that confirmation, a new act has emerged on the radar.
E! is reporting that the Adam Levine-fronted Maroon 5 has had “extensive talks about performing during halftime of Super Bowl 50.”
While noting that acts like Coldplay and the aforementioned Mars have been under consideration, the story goes as far as to call Maroon 5 the “current front-runner for the gig.”
Neither the NFL nor Maroon 5 has commented on E!’s story.
