Ratings: Showtime’s “The Affair,” “Homeland” Slip This Week

Showtime’s Sunday night dramas “The Affair” and “Homeland” both suffered losses in adults 18-49 and total viewership this week.

The former, which last week scored a 0.18 adults 18-49 rating with 815,000 total viewers for its season two premiere, drew a 0.15 with 547,000 total viewers this week.

Lead-in “Homeland,” meanwhile, posted a 0.46 with 1.396 million viewers. Last week’s episode managed a 0.56 with 1.663 million.

Of potential relevance was the competitive force of AMC’s “The Walking Dead.” The 90-minute premiere competed with the entirety of “Homeland” and the first half of “The Affair.”

“The Affair,” moreover, was again made available for streaming in advance of the broadcast. That may have adversely affected the live performance, although last week’s episode managed to draw an additional 268,000 viewers while subject to the same streaming factor.
