August has been a big month for iHeartRadio “On the Verge” announcements.
Two weeks ago, iHeart officially confirmed Hailee Steinfeld’s “Love Myself” as the new “On the Verge” song at pop radio. Last week, the media powerhouse announced that Rita Ora’s “Body On Me (featuring Chris Brown)” was to receive the “On the Verge” boost at rhythmic radio.
This week brings news that Jamie Lawson’s “Wasn’t Expecting That” and Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ “SOB” are also “On the Verge” selections.
The “On the Verge” program provides selected singles with branding support across iHeart’s digital channels. More importantly, it provides the selections with guaranteed airplay on iHeartMedia’s network of stations.
While the announcement did not specify a focus-format for either song, it is believed “Wasn’t Expecting That” will receive its “On the Verge” boost at hot adult contemporary radio. “SOB” is a selection for the alternative format.
Previous “On the Verge” selections at hot adult contemporary radio include Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song,” Echosmith’s “Cool Kids,” Sheppard’s “Geronimo” and Ella Henderson’s “Ghost.” Alternative “On the Verge” alumni include X Ambassadors’ “Renegades,” Milky Chance’s “Stolen Dance,” and Vance Joy’s “Riptide.”
