The Weeknd’s “The Hills” Joins Pop Radio’s Top 50; A Great Big World, X Ambassadors Also Enter

The Weeknd, whose “Can’t Feel My Face” now holds the #1 spot at pop radio, has another song surging at the format.

“The Hills,” which also appears on his eagerly anticipated “Beauty Behind the Madness,” was the Mediabase pop panel’s 44th-most-played song during the August 2-8 tracking week.

Already a Top 15 hit at rhythmic radio and a Top 20 hit at urban radio, “The Hills” received 940 pop plays during the aforementioned tracking period (+397).

It claimed last week’s #51 position.

A Great Big World’s “Hold Each Other (featuring Futuristic)” also reaches the pop format’s Top 50. Up six places from last week’s position, the song earns #47 on the strength of its 782 weekly plays (+362).

“Hold Each Other” concurrently enters the Top 30 at hot adult contemporary.

Maintaining the theme of multi-format success stories, X Ambassadors’ “Renegades” is the third addition to pop radio’s Top 50. Spun 664 times during the tracking week (+155), it rises three places to #49.

“Renegades” is concurrently enjoying its ninth week atop the alternative airplay chart. It also holds at #2 on the Triple A listing and reaches a new peak of #16 on the Hot AC chart.
