While it was first made available to country radio programmers on May 21, Hunter Hayes’ “21” did not officially impact the country radio format until this week.
In conjunction with this week’s official impact, the song claims the country format’s most added distinction.
“21” tops the weekly Mediabase add board on the strength of its 44 monitored adds. The wave of support should help “21,” which is #46 on the Mediabase country radio singles chart and #45 on Billboard Country Airplay, mount an upward progression.
Picked up by 41 stations this week, Billy Currington’s new “Drinkin’ Town with a Football Problem” ranks as second-most added. Jake Owen’s “Real Life” follows as third-most added with 38 adds, while Craig Campbell’s “Tomorrow Tonight” and The Cadillac Three’s “White Lightning” claim fourth- and fifth-most added on the strength of their 30 and 16 pickups, respectively.
Other notable country options: Chris Young’s “I’m Comin’ Over” (15 adds, 6th-most added, tie), Parmalee’s “Already Callin’ You Mine” (15 adds, 6th-most added, tie), Eric Church’s “Like a Wrecking Ball” (14 adds, 8th-most added, tie), Randy Houser’s “We Went” (14 adds, 8th-most added, tie), Mo Pitney’s “Country” (10 adds, 10th-most added, tie), Sam Hunt’s “House Party” (10 adds, 10th-most added, tie) and Old Dominion’s “Break Up with Him” (10 adds, 10th-most added, tie).
