Last week’s “New Girl” was the FOX comedy’s first original installment in four weeks. That fact, unfortunately, did not amplify interest in the episode, which drew a series low in the adults 18-49 demographic and nearly hit one in total viewership.
While “New Girl” has already been renewed for a fifth season, FOX and those behind the show are certainly still hoping for a rebound. The first shot at achieving that rebound comes Tuesday, when FOX airs the “Par 5” episode.
Signaled by its title, the episode devotes sizable focus to a charity golf tournament. There, Fawn (Zoe Lister Jones) helps Jess (Zooey Deschanel) network with local politicians in her effort to secure new computers for the school.
Asking Jess to cultivate professional relationships at a golf tournament is surely asking for shenanigans. Indeed they emerge.
The episode also focuses on a budding romance for Winston (Lamorne Morris). Upon meeting the beautiful, charming KC (Kiersey Clemons), Winston naturally stumbles in the face of awkwardness. And just as he begins to overcome that hurdle, he runs into another one: KC is actively protesting the police force. The newly minted cop, therefore, feels his only option is to lie about his profession. That scenario, naturally, works its way toward a comedic climax.
“Par 5” also devotes attention to the dynamic between Cece (Hannah Simone) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield).
In advance of Tuesday’s episode, FOX shared behind-the-scenes photos from the production. Those follow:
