While the top three Hot 100 positions remain unchanged–Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars)” (#1), Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” (#2) and Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” (#3) hold those top spots–a new song rises to the #4 position on this week’s chart.
Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney’s “FourFiveSeconds,” that song, leverages its post-Grammys sales growth (+44% to 261K weekly sales) and soaring airplay to make its first appearance in the top five. That first top five appearance comes one week after the song first reached the top ten (at #6).
The song is McCartney’s first top five hit since Paul McCartney’s “Say Say Say” entered that portion of the chart (and went to #1) in 1984.
“FourFiveSeconds” is not the only song at a new peak this week. Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” also moves in the upward direction.
After landing at a new peak of #9 last week, the song jumps to #6 on this week’s chart. It most closely trails Maroon 5’s “Sugar,” which slips to #5.
As previously reported, Taylor Swift’s “Style” also hits a new high this week. It enters the top ten at #10.
Swift’s “Blank Space” (#7), Sam Smith’s “I’m Not the Only One” (#8) and Meghan Trainor’s “Lips are Movin” (#9) fill up the remaining top ten slots.
