Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush,” Miranda Lambert’s “Wagon” Go Top 40 at Country

Two tracks showcasing some of country radio’s most recognizable, engaging female vocalists officially enter the format’s Top 40 this week.

Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush,” the first of the two, rises five places to #38 on this week’s edition of the Mediabase country radio airplay chart. The song, which features a powerhouse vocal showcase from LBT member Karen Fairchild, commanded 1,006 spins during the January 11-17 tracking week.

Miranda Lambert, whose “Smokin’ and Drinkin'” features Little Big Town, also scores a new Top 40 entry this week. She enters that portion of the chart courtesy new single “Little Red Wagon,” which flies nine places to the #39 spot.

While “Wagon” received fewer Mediabase points than “Girl Crush” and thus finds itself one position beneath the LBT tune on the chart, it actually commanded more weekly airplay. “Little Red Wagon” received 1,013 plays during the aforementioned tracking week.

“Girl Crush” is the follow-up to Little Big Town’s #1 hit “Day Drinking.” The third single from her Grammy-nominated “Platinum,” “Little Red Wagon” follows previous releases “Somethin’ Bad (featuring Carrie Underwood)” and “Automatic.”
