Do not expect Meghan Trainor to cry about the fact that her breakthrough blockbuster “All About That Bass” slips one place to #3 on the weekly Billboard Hot 100.
Her follow-up single “Lips are Movin,” after all, is now a top ten hit.
After reaching a peak of #13 on last week’s chart, the buzzworthy “Lips” surges an additional five places to #8 this week. The track, which is likely to fly higher in the coming weeks, becomes Trainor’s second Top 10 hit in as many tries.
“Lips are Movin” continues to receive valuable streaming marks courtesy its official video, and it has also been enjoying recent airplay and sales increases. In addition to recently becoming one of pop radio’s 15 most-played songs, the track carved out a position within the top ten of iTunes’ all-genre single sales chart.
So comfortable is that position that “Lips are Movin” remains the digital store’s #6 seller despite an influx of three “The Voice” performances and Ed Sheeran’s “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show”-fueled “Thinking Out Loud.”
