Update: While their overnight household ratings looked weak, The CW’s “Reign” and “The Vampire Diaries” held up in the adults 18-49 and total viewership columns.
8PM drama “TVD” matched last week’s 0.8 adults 18-49 rating. Viewership climbed slightly to 1.84 million.
“Reign,” meanwhile, matched last week’s 0.5 adults 18-49 rating with slightly improved viewership of 1.40 million.

Facing competition from NBC’s modestly rated (but stronger than usual) iHeartRadio Awards broadcast, The CW’s Thursday dramas posted weak overnight ratings.
“The Vampire Diaries,” which opened the network’s evening, slipped to a low 1.3 overnight household rating. Down two tenths from last week’s 1.5, which translated into a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating with 1.81 million viewers, the weak rating illustrates the extent to which “TVD” is struggling this spring.
“Reign,” which led out of “The Vampire Diaries,” matched last week’s series low 1.1 overnight number. Last week’s number translated into a 0.5 rating with 1.35 million viewers.
While both “TVD” and “Reign” have spent the past several weeks in deflated ratings territory, they have already been renewed for next season. “The Vampire Diaries” also remains one of The CW’s top-rated offerings.
