Update: “Reign” enjoyed a ratings rebound for its heavily hyped “Consummation.”
The episode, which focused on a wedding involving Queen Mary (and, as it turned out, Francis), rallied back to a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating with 1.765 million viewers. Last week’s episode posted a series low 0.5 with 1.3 million.
In addition to scoring its best viewership mark since December 12 and its best adults 18-49 number since November 21, Thursday’s “Reign” set a new series high in women 18-34 (1.0). It was up 44% week-to-week in women 18-49 (1.0).
“The Vampire Diaries,” CW’s 8PM entry, was also up this week. It delivered a 1.0 with 2.18 million.
========
The heavily hyped “Reign” wedding did not attract a mass audience for The CW, but it did help the freshman series rebound from last week’s low.
“Consummation,” Thursday’s episode, posted a 1.3 overnight household rating. Up from the series low 1.2 for the previous week’s airing, the number aligns with that delivered by many “Reign” airings.
In addition to posting a low in the overnight metered markets, last week’s “Reign” also set low marks in adults 18-49 (0.5) and total viewers (1.3 million). The hope is that this Thursday’s episode also gained ground in those categories.
“The Vampire Diaries,” which led into “Reign,” also enjoyed a weekly gain. It posted a 1.7 overnight household rating.
