Neither “3 Days to Kill” nor “Pompeii” erupted at the box office this weekend, which enabled holdover champ “The Lego Movie” to extend its victory streak to three.
Victorious “The Lego Movie” put an additional $31.45 million in its pocket this weekend. Having earned a cumulative total of $183.16 million, it is tracking to break the $200 million barrier this coming week.
Soft new releases “3 Days to Kill” and “Pompeii” followed with $12.30 million and $10.01 million, respectively. Neither total is good, and the latter’s is particularly disappointing given its hefty budget.
“Robocop” claimed fourth with an underwhelming $9.40 million. “The Monuments Men” completed the top five on the strength of $8.10 million.
Without assistance from Valentine’s Day, movies like “About Last Night” (#6, $7.40 million, -71%), “Endless Love” (#9, $4.30 million, -68%) and “Winter’s Tale” (#10, $2.13 million, 71%) fell significantly this weekend.
