Paul Walker’s Reps Confirm Death, Car Crash Story Not a Hoax

Call it wishful thinking or call it confusion over a fake death rumor that emerged earlier this weekend, but numerous media and heartbroken fans have been running with the story that reports of Paul Walker’s death are a hoax.

That, unfortunately, does not appear to be the case. Paul Walker’s representatives confirmed the actor’s death with a statement on his Facebook account Saturday evening.

Attributed to #TeamPW, the statement read as follows:

“It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences.”

According to TMZ, Walker was riding in a Porsche when the driver, his friend, lost control and veered into a tree. The car ultimately exploded, killing the two in the process.

Walker, 40, was best known for his work in the “The Fast & The Furious” franchise.
