Thanks to its exhilarating twists, quotable one-liners and its weekly “Ask Scandal” cast chats, ABC’s “Scandal” has established itself as a bona fide force on social media.
For proof of how well ABC’s most buzzworthy drama engages fans, one need only look at the hundreds of Tweets regarding “Olivia’s dress” that emerged Thursday evening.
The activity would have been impressive if it came in response to a major twist in the episode’s climax. That it came in response to a brief teaser clip from next week’s episode should make “Scandal”‘s fan enthusiasm the envy of virtually every show on television.
The promotional clip, which hypes next week’s “More Cattle, Less Bull” episode, features lead character Olivia Pope, played by Emmy nominee Kerry Washington, arriving to the White House Correspondents’ dinner with a knock ’em dead dress and hairstyle. Almost enough to overshadow the plots established in the actual Thursday episode, the brief visual prompted a surplus of gushing.
