Lorde’s “Royals” Tops Hot 100 Again; “Wrecking Ball,” “Roar” Flip-Flop

Its digital sales performance receded this week, but thanks to improvement at radio and continued dominance on the streaming charts, Lorde’s “Royals” extends its Billboard Hot 100 reign to four weeks.

By besting the three-week apex run for P!nk’s “Just Give Me a Reason,” Lorde’s single scores the longest Hot 100 reign for a female record since Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” led for nine weeks last year.

Though the leader remains the same, there were some shakeups in the balance of the top ten. Katy Perry’s “Roar” and Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” again traded the number two and three spots; the former claimed the better position on this week’s chart.

Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” held onto the number four slot, besting Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and Ylvis’ “The Fox,” which stay at five and six, respectively.

The best-selling single of the week, Eminem’s “Rap God” began its Hot 100 run at number seven. Jay-Z’s “Holy Grail” settled for eighth, while Lady Gaga’s “Applause” slipped to number nine. Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” landed at ten.
