“Glee” Ascends Charts with Cory Monteith Tribute Singles

It was neither the circumstance under which “Glee” wanted to climb in the TV ratings race nor the one under which it reclaimed a presence on the iTunes Single Sales charts.

Both, however, happened in response to Thursday’s airing of the Cory Monteith tribute episode.

With proceeds going towards Project Limelight, the six tribute songs were released as part of an EP but also available for individual purchase. As of press time, all but one ascended into the iTunes Top 100.

Leading the charge was Lea Michele’s rendition of “Make You Feel My Love.” Having moved roughly as many copies as Ylvis “The Fox” over the past twenty four hours, the song had reached number eight by 12:50PM ET.

The ensemble’s “Seasons of Love,” the next most successful single, ascended to number twenty three, while Naya Rivera’s “If I Die Young” claimed thirty-seventh.

“I’ll Stand By You” (63) and “Fire and Rain” (80) were also holding in the Top 100 as of press time. Only Mark Salling’s “No Surrender” was below that threshold.
