One of WWE’s Primetime Players is making daytime headlines for officially coming out as homosexual.
TMZ Thursday morning posted a video of WWE Superstar Darren Young, who with Titus O’Neil comprises the Primetime Players, confirming his homosexuality.
“Absolutely,” confirmed Young in response to a question about whether homosexual wrestlers could succeed in WWE. “Look at me. I’m a WWE superstar and to be honest with you, I’ll tell you right now, I’m gay. And I’m happy. I’m very happy.”
In conjunction with its report on Young, TMZ also posted a comment from WWE Champion John Cena, who offered his support and congratulations to the wrestler.
“I know Darren personally,” said Cena. “Darren’s a great guy. That’s a very bold move for him. And congratulations for him for actually finally doing it.”
He added, “For us, it’s entertainment … and if you’re entertaining you shouldn’t be judged by race, creed, color or sexuality … as long as you’re entertaining.”
