Dating back to her Strikeforce tenure, sports insiders were very bullish on Ronda Rousey’s potential to breakout as a major star.
UFC shared in that philosophy and opted to make Rousey the centerpiece of its women’s bantamweight division. Showcasing Rousey paid off; UFC 157, headlined by Rousey vs. relatively-unknown female fighter Liz Carmouche, drew at least 400,000 buys, according to insider sources.
And Rousey’s journey into superstardom is apparently only just beginning.
While there are several “money fights” on the horizon for Rousey, the olympic medalist is also reportedly fielding movie offers. According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, Rousey was recently contacted about appearing in the third “Hunger Games” movie. Filming is completed on the second film, which releases this fall.
No official word is available on Rousey’s interest in the offer, but even if she were to take it, sources say Rousey is not planning to remove fighting from her core line of focus.
