Talk about working the Internet. After spending weeks implying Brodus Clay, who recently filmed a horror movie for the company, would be returning as the latest iteration of the “unbeatable monster” character, the former NXT talent returned to WWE television with a comedic “funk” gimmick.
The “Funkasaurus” Brodus Clay entered the ring in workout gear, and spent as much of his match creepily dancing as delivering goofy facials as he did dominating opponent Curt Hawkins.
His ring entrance and post-match celebration, portrayed as deliberately over-the-top, featured accompaniment from two female “dancers.” Those dancers were former NXT contestant Naomi Knight and former “Tough Enough” contestant Ariane Andrew, the latter of whom made waves for telling host and judge “Stone Cold” Steve Austin that her favorite WWE match of all time was a bout between Alicia Fox and Melina.
