Brian “Astro” Bradley retains the largest fanbase of any “X Factor” contestant on Twitter. He also has the most widely-watched assortment of YouTube videos.
Given that social media following and a clearly-passionate fanbase, the young rapper thus remains perplexed about his elimination.
To him, it seems illogical that the person with the biggest online fanbase could be the lowest vote-getter. He implied the same thing when he landed in the bottom two in November, and he was even more clear about it on a conference call with reporters following his elimination.
Still, dwelling on the past and its negative energy is not part of Astro’s game anymore, and he refused to elaborate any further on the voting results and his “meltdown” from the show two weeks ago.
Instead, he’s looking to the future. Though he says he has not yet heard from idols Jay-Z and Kanye West, there are already rumors that the former is looking to sign him to his label. And even if those prove false, it does certainly seem that Astro, despite coming in just seventh place on “The X Factor” is destined for a big opportunity in the music industry.
Throughout the call, Astro maintained his allegiance to his supporters–the “Astronauts”–even if “The X Factor” was their first introduction to the young rapper. He was proud to have the opportunity to bring his original, hip-hop songwriting to the show, and he loves that he now has received an introduction to the celebrity life.
He’s also been humbled better groomed for handling the spotlight, two necessities for making it in the often-cruel entertainment sector.
Other notes:
— His favorite performance of the season? It’s an interesting one–Josh Krajcik’s “Dirty Diana,” which Astro called “extreme.” He feels the best performance he personally gave was “Lose Yourself.”
— Would not elaborate on his shoutout to “Molly”/his “girl” in California from Thursday’s show, confirming only that he does have a girlfriend.
— Says his songwriting inspiration comes from his supporters and things he sees around him.
