Though not an unequivocal draw in his own right, Jonah Hill definitely has star power when it comes to the world of cinema. Unfortunately, the sound of his voice was unable to lure viewers to “Allen Gregory.”
The premiere of his new FOX animated series flopped, garnering a mere 2.4 adults 18-49 rating with 4.7 million viewers. Weak in its own right, the magnitude of the disappointment is amplified by the fact that it squandered a significant chunk of its “The Simpsons” lead-in. FOX’s long-running animated series delivered a healthy 4.0 with 8.0 million viewers.
Comparatively, last season’s new entry “Bob’s Burgers” premiered to a far-more impressive 4.5 adults 18-49 rating and 9.4 million viewers out of a 5.7 and 12.7 million for “The Simpsons,” besting “Allen Gregory” in audience size and retention.
“Family Guy,” meanwhile, followed with a 3.2 and 6.0 million viewers, open, setting lead-out “The Cleveland Show” up for a 2.3 and 4.6 million.
