Numerous acts that appeared at Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards have generated big search buzz following the telecast, and none has elicited more interest than The Band Perry.
The familial trio, which performed on the show and won for Top New Artist as well as Top New Vocal Duo or Group, enjoyed success last year with smash hit “If I Die Young” (following minor buzz for premiere single “Hip to My Heart”). Currently charting with “You Lie,” the group has been gaining ground at recent country awards shows.
As of 11:40PM, The Band Perry was the most-searched-for term on Google. While post-awards show buzz is no guarantee of long-term success, it should be noted that groups like Lady Antebellum and Sugarland have seen their profiles raised after well-received performances on such broadcasts.
Also charting (in order starting with #2): Steve Perry (perhaps due to confusion about the “Journey” singer’s possible relation to the aforementioned group), Sara Evans, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton.
Carrie Underwood comes in at number ten, leading Reba McEntire (11), Brad Paisley (14), Lady Antebellum (15), Zac Brown Band (16) and Sugarland (20).
