Television veteran Mike O’Malley, who has revitalized his profile with an Emmy-nominated turn on “Glee,” will definitely be appearing in episodes of the FOX hit’s third season.
That confirmation comes amid reports that O’Malley has booked a role in the FOX pilot “Family Album.”
O’Malley, who plays Burt Hummel on “Glee,” confirmed to TVLine that he will return for at least six episodes in season three. Based on fan response to his character, one would assume the door would be open for more appearances, especially if “Album” does not get picked up to series next season.
Catapulted to “Glee” stardom in last season’s fourth episode, O’Malley plays the alpha male father to homosexual teen character Kurt. Despite his limited experience with gay culture and preference for more traditionally-“heterosexually manly” involvements like sports, O’Malley’s character has been surprisingly supportive of his son’s quest to earn acceptance as an openly-gay teenager in a fairly-conservative region of Ohio.
