Between the “goofy” King of the Ring attire that many critics put on par with the infamous “Goldberg wearing the wig” moment and weak booking portrayal on television, Sheamus is clearly no longer held in supreme graces backstage. Pushed hard as a main-eventer last year, the last few months have not been kind to the wrestler’s image as a monster.
According to F4WOnline.com, WWE’s Kevin Dunn is responsible for the soured attitude towards Sheamus–he is not a fan of the wrestler as a dominant, main-event talent. He, in fact, allegedly came up with the idea for Sheamus’ new wardrobe after the segment in which Sheamus ran away from Nexus.
— While Internet fans remain eager and hopeful for a Sting debut in WWE, the Observer adds that nothing new has transpired from a negotiations standpoint. Between The Rock’s guest hosting gig, the likely Justin Bieber appearance and the big Triple H vs. Undertaker match, WWE has its marquee elements for WrestleMania tentatively set, so it is unlikely to be desperately pursuing Sting for an appearance at the show.
That being said, following the surge of buzz when fans ignored the obvious and hoped that 2-21-11 referred to Sting rather than The Undertaker, interest on WWE’s part definitely did develop.
Damn reality does suck
