“House” Hits Ratings Low, “How I Met Your Mother” Rebounds

The ongoing fall of FOX’s “House” continued Monday, as the show dropped to its lowest ratings mark since season one.

FOX’s Emmy-nominated medical drama posted a mere 3.6 adults 18-49 rating with 9.29 million viewers. Once one of television’s most successful shows, it has fallen into the realm of “solid hit.” Lead-out “24” was also down this week, responsible for a 2.7 rating with 8.51 million viewers.

Elsewhere, CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother” continued its rebound from last month’s devastating ratings low–Monday’s segment was good for a 3.3 with 8.16 million viewers. While it is down from the phenomenal numbers it was posting at the beginning of 2010, the show has at least recovered into respectable territory.

CBS’ comedies were otherwise mixed for the night. “Rules of Engagement” was impressive with a 3.2 and 8.18 million, “Two and a Half Men” underwhelmed with a 4.6 and 13.75 million viewers (the same rating “Big Bang” posted at 9PM last week) and “The Big Bang Theory” won the night with a 5.2 and 13.58 million viewers. “CSI: Miami” won its 10PM timeslot with a 3.3 and 11.10 million viewers.

Amid rumors that it will still likely score a fourth season pickup, NBC’s “Chuck” was disappointing with a 1.9 rating and 5.33 million viewers. The 10PM “Law & Order” was good for a 1.7 with 6.17 million.

ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” (4.0, 19 million) led into a disappointing “Castle” (2.6, 11.42 million). The CW was not even on the radar with its combination of “One Tree Hill” (1.1, 2.12 million) and “Gossip Girl” (0.9, 1.76 million).
