With most media coverage focused on Susan Boyle’s “I Dreamed a Dream”‘s impending album sales victory over anticipated releases from Adam Lambert, Rihanna and Lady Gaga, observers have largely ignored one of the week’s other big players–Miley Cyrus.
Her Wal-Mart EP “Time of our Lives” was all over the store’s promotional material for this past weekend’s shopping rush, and it thus posted a strong sales week. With 55% of retailers having already reported sales figures to Hits Daily Double, Cyrus’ album ranks second behind Boyle’s smash hit release. If the numbers hold up, it will fall in the same range as the albums from Lambert, Gaga and Rihanna and move up significantly from last week’s position (number 29).
Other multiple-week holdovers benefiting from early Holiday season shopping are Carrie Underwood’s “Play On,” Andrea Bocelli’s “My Christmas” and Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” and “Sounds of the Season.”
