The season four “Ugly Betty” premiere, in the ABC show’s new Friday timeslot, delivered an absolutely abysmal rating.
With just 5.1 million viewers and a 1.4 in adults 18-49, the show was down almost 60% from last season’s debut. It also was in line with what “Supernanny” had done in the timeslot last year, proving there was no Friday spike created by scheduling what was, just a few years ago, one of the most buzzed about shows on television.
“Betty” was not the only show to struggle Friday. NBC’s “The Jay Leno Show” reached an all-time low 1.2 adults 18-49 rating (with 5 million viewers) in the 10PM slot. With a lead-in that was no worse than it was in previous weeks, the number is quite alarming.
