This week has been about judgment for The CW’s new series. “Vampire Diaries” and “Melrose Place” scored additional script orders. Things did not go so well for “The Beautiful Life,” however, which Friday became the first casualty of the fall season.
It took just two airings for The CW to realize that the show simply could not draw for the network. The most recent episode, despite having the “America’s Next Top Model” lead-in, averaged just 1.1 million viewers Wednesday–ranking The CW below even My Network TV in the timeslot.
Until a permanent replacement is determined, the network will air repeats of dramas–likely “Melrose Place”–in the Wednesday at 9PM slot.
